This song is SOOOOO 1996... back when lesbianism was chic

The title says it all. You can read Clayton Barrel's take on it here. But if you haven't figured out yet - I'm talking about Katy Hudson's, ahh sorry I mean Katy Perry's "I kissed a girl" and "Ur so gay" songs from the CD titled, “One of the Boys”. For the longest time I thought I was the only one annoyed by her stereotypical and cliché lyrics. She seems to be stirring up controversy in the gay communtiy as well as the religious. Clayton summarizes my feelings on this well,
"This song is geared toward the straight male, frat-boy world and is NOT anywhere close to a message of tolerance and inclusion like many seem to think."

How much does your favorite artist make

CDM recently posted an article regarding Last.fm's new Artist Royalty Program. Its an interesting read that touches on royalties in Radio, over the WWW and Indie's VS The Man. While this might be a step in the right direction for Indie's and or unsigned artists. The artist still needs to look elsewhere for a great source of revenue. At $0.0005 a play I would need 50,000 plays to get half a thank of gas to drive to my next gig. ;)
